Tip 1- Changing The Way Children Eat

Changing the way your children eat is one of the first things you want to consider when thinking about a healthy lifestyle. They don't have to give up the foods that they love, but you may want to change the way that you prepare them at home so they are not "processed".

If your children love fast food, (as all teenagers do!) it's absolutely essential that you find ways to cut back on how many times your children eat out and even what choices you make when you roll up to the window to make an order.

These days there are lots of healthy choices on the menus of fast food outlets when you must eat on the run, so think about those before you eat that burger and fries that are not always the best choices. When I take my children to McDonalds for example, I always substitute a fruit bag for the fries at not additional cost.

Tip 2 - Ensure Your Children Get Some Exercise

If you want your children to lead a healthy lifestyle, they should also do some exercise. Many children, including my on daughter groan when they hear this, and think they have to join a gym or put a treadmill in their bedroom.

The truth is that most who join a gym quit within a month, and treadmills often become just another piece of furniture. Instead, think about things that your children like to do instead.

One that has been a real success in our house is dog walking. As you can imagine there was real excitement as getting a puppy coupled with competition over who was going to take it our for walks and yes…exercise! Hobbies and sports are also very to get you children to get up and move, as they are more satisfying for both body and mind.


Tip 3 - If You Are Smoker Your Children Are Likely To Smoke Too

Smoking and drinking can get in the way of your children living a healthy lifestyle as well. Smoking should be stopped as soon as possible, and drinking should be cut down substantially. Remember, children are extremely impressionable and look to their parents as role models when they are growing up.


Tip 4 - Change Requires A Stress Free Environment

When you are trying to implement change it is important to have positive people around you. To do this you might also want to think about some of your personal relationships. Stress and negative energy could derail all your efforts to get your children go live a healthy lifestyle.
